Common Insects & Invertebrates

Bedbugs
Of all the common pests in the UK, Bedbugs (Cimex Lectularius) have the capacity to cause the most alarm and distress. Often introduced via second-hand furniture or foreign travel, these persistent pests can leave you with itchy bites. Your problem will be dealt with delicately and with the utmost sensitivity. Wasps & Hornets

Clothes Moth
The clothes moth (Tineola bisselliella). Responsible for significant damage to carpets, curtains, and other soft furnishings. Often the first signs of infestation occur once damage has occurred. Lookout for adult moths in the building, or bare patches on wool carpets.

Carpet Beetle
The larval stage of the carpet beetle can cause damage very similar to moths. Feeding on organic material, your woollen-wares are at risk. The tiny hairs on the rice grain size pests causes skin irritation.

Silverfish
These wingless insects prefer damp or humid conditions, silverfish (Lepisma Saccharinum) are often found in older properties or those with damp issues following leaks or flooding. Control is possible through the deployment of insecticides.

Cockroaches
The Oriental Cockroach (Blatta Orientalis) and German Cockroach (Blatta Germanica). Their ability to transfer bacteria and disease requires homeowners and business owners (particularly in the food industry) to be especially vigilant. Whilst control is achievable using professionally available products, the earlier the problem is identified, the more efficient the treatment will be.

fleas
Cat, Dog, and [rarely] Human fleas are parasites that feed on the blood of their host. All types of fleas can bite humans, often causing an itchy reaction. Eggs and Larvae may be present in carpets and soft furnishings.

Flies
Flies (order Diptera) there are thousands of different types of flies. Rely on GW pest control to identify the source of the problem and for the most effective treatment.

Ants
The Garden or Common Black Ant (Lasius niger) is a seasonal nuisance across the country. Control is advisable if they gain entry to your home. Whilst they may not pose a direct health risk, there is potential for the contamination of food with germs picked up during their foraging activity.
